La Esperanza, in partnership with the Haitian Coalition of Delaware, is working to address the needs of the growing Latino and Haitian communities in Sussex County. Through the Regional Foundation Grant, we plan to conduct a community-led planning process and assessment that will lead to successfully assisting these communities with overcoming challenges that may hinder their paths to integration and success. Through this process, La Esperanza hopes that Haitian Creole and Spanish-speaking families in Sussex County will see an improvement in how they are included in decision-making and leadership; and how they are included in the development and referral to resources available in their neighborhoods, such as food and clothing, workforce development and job placement opportunities, medical and health-related services, education options, and safe, affordable housing.
