La Esperanza recognized 23 newly naturalized U.S. citizens during its annual Citizenship Celebration on March 27.

Held during La Esperanza’s 30th anniversary year, the event brought together community members and partners to celebrate. For many, the moment reflects years of sacrifice and commitment to building a life in the United States.

This year’s honorees included individuals from across Latin America and beyond, each with a unique story shaped by migration, family and determination. Angelo Lucenti Cascone, who was born in Italy and later lived in Venezuela before settling in the United States, described citizenship as “the result of a long journey across different countries and experiences.” Lorena Mora Cordoba, who emigrated from Mexico and became a U.S. citizen this year, shared that “with determination, support and courage, it is possible to begin a better future.”

Through legal services and citizenship classes, La Esperanza continues to support individuals as they navigate the naturalization process and take part in civic life. Each new citizen represents not only a personal achievement, but a strengthening of the community.
